As far as disappointing series finales go, "True Blood" is up there along with "How I Met Your Mother" for this year's sadly disappointing goodbyes.

On Sunday night, over 4 million viewers tuned in to watch the end of the vampire thriller for the 9 p.m. telecast, but the ending is not what people expected it to be.

Here are five reasons why the vampire drama totally failed in its end:

1)    It has lost its original hedonistic vibe from the first few seasons. The end, according to Entertainment Weekly, was so bland and conservative, it was almost offensive. Jessica and Hoyt married, Sookie chatted with a reverend about God's plan because Bill lectured her about the joys of raising children - tame stuff.

2)    There is too much focus of marriage and children. Bill said to Sookie, "We have children. Maybe we get to meet our children's children, but then we pass on, and that, that is a life." Sure, vamps and humans can slut it out, but really, though, who'd really think that vampires can have children? Also, considering the metaphors that "True Blood" represent, isn't this concept a bit too discriminating? Vampirisim in "True Blood" was supposed to represent the LGBT community's fight for equal rights, so what's the deal with Bill dying just so Sookie can have a "meaningful" existence by raising children in the world?

3)    There was not enough time for many characters, including Eric, Pam, and Lafayette, and if there is one thing that a finale should be, it should be that fans can properly say goodbye to their favorites. Bill just hogged most of the hour for his desire of marriage and children, and frankly, it was boring.

4)    What is up with Jessica and Hoyt's wedding anyway? Their story ended with proper closure, so why bring it up again by, according to The Vulture, asking the audience "to get excited about a wedding between two characters we'd long since stopped rooting for, and then proceeded to subject us to several interminable scenes about it?"

5)    Finally, people have been rooting for Sookie and Bill / Sookie and Eric since the beginning, so why did she have to end up with a faceless man? Is the ending all for naught when the pair that was meant to be did not end up being?

What is the most disappointing part for you in the series finale of "True Blood"? Are you hoping for an alternative ending for the DVD release?
