Floyd Mayweather Net Worth: Boxer Earns $72 Million in Two Fights

A lot of people have been poking fun at boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr for his poor reading skills - but that has not stopped him from making a lot of money.

Rapper 50 Cent, in particular, attacked Mayweather recently by telling the latter that he would donate $750,000 to the charity of the boxer's choice if he could read one page of a Harry Potter book without stopping or struggling. 

50 Cent kept criticizing the boxing champion for an entire week. At first, the rapper made a video to contribute to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. He said Floyd should show proof that he can actually read the lines on the "Harry Potter" book. However, when Mayweather failed to respond, 50 Cent bashed him again by saying, "We don't want to put pressure on you. We know you can't pronounce those words in the Harry Potter book so we gonna let you read Cat in the Hat."

In a report by Fox Sports, Mayweather finally responded to 50 Cent on August 23, 2014 by posting a couple of paychecks he received from his two matches. Both checks added up to over $72 million. Mayweather wrote on Twitter, "Read this $72,276,000.00. God bless."

According to Hiphopdx.com, 50 Cent immediately responded to Floyd's photo by releasing another video on Instagram. He wrote, "I guess you want people to see your math is better than your reading. Get an account Floyd, the people around you are using you. If you mad at me call me or come see me." He added in the video, "N*gg*, you know I got money." The video showed the rapper mocking Mayweather's work under his promoter, Golden Boy Promotions. He concluded, "The check say Golden Boy. That means you work for Oscar, b*tch?" Golden Boy Promotions is owned by Oscar dela Hoya.

50 Cent and Mayweather used to be very close friends and even planned to become business partners in 2013 before Mayweather Promotions, LLC surfaced. The two had heated exchanges before and 50 Cent even admitted that they got into a few fistfights before and he won each time. The two continued to grow distant in the past several months before turning into real enemies at present. Hopefully, the rapper's invitation for Floyd to call him might be a means to settle their differences aside and be good buddies again.
