After earning $1 billion in the global box office and getting two Oscars in the process, "Skyfall" managed to maintain the appeal of the 007 movie franchise as a series of films that's more than just an action-packed extravaganza. So, what's next for the 24th Bond movie, then?
Last year, it has been reported that actor Daniel Craig will be back to reprise his role as the super spy, while Sam Mendes will return to helm the film once more, according to ScreenRant.
"Hopefully we'll reclaim some of the old irony, and make sure it doesn't become pastiche. I can't do shtick, I'm not very good at it. Unless it kind of suddenly makes sense. Does that make sense? I sometimes wish I hammed it up more, but I just can't do it very well, so I don't do it," the site also quoted Craig as saying regarding his reprisal in the next installment.
Some reports also said that filming for the yet untitled sequel would begin in October last year. Apparently, there were script troubles that may have affected the production process. But that's all behind the cast and crew now, as what The Mirror reported recently.
"Writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were rehired last month to 'rescue' John Logan's original screenplay and insiders have now admitted they had a bigger task ahead than was originally reported," the publication said. "The pair's 'substantially different' script has got producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, director Sam Mendes and lead actor Daniel Craig 'excited' about the upcoming saga."
As such, the cast will begin filming this coming December.
Well, isn't that good news? So, what about the "Bond 24" theme?
More recently, some rumors emerged linking Sam Smith to the creation of the 007 film, something that also receives just as much scrutiny as the flick's plot or casting.
However, the singer denied that he is involved in the making of the carrier track.
"No, I have no idea what that was about and I know as much as you do. You probably know more than me; I didn't even read the article," Smith was quoted by E! News as saying. He's not against the idea, though.
"I think it's something everyone would love to do. But yeah, it was all news to me. I won't say any more on it," the British artist said.
Do you think Smith would be the perfect choice for the "Bond 24" theme? Yay or nay?
