When Jennifer Lopez met her onscreen son Tyler Posey for the first time since their movie, "Maid in Manhattan," she, and perhaps legions of fans of the "Teen Wolf" star, were impressed with how handsome and buff the actor has become. After all, Posey was a mere little kid when he appeared in the movie.
That moment at this year's Teen Choice Awards had inspired some media outlets to come up with crazy ideas about the reunion. They probably asked: What if Lopez and Posey become more than just former co-stars?
After all, JLo is among the stars in Hollywood who have dated men way younger than them. Her last boyfriend, choreographer and dancer Casper Smart, is a whopping 18 years her junior, PopSugar noted. Parade also said that "House of Cards" actress Robin Wright moved on from her divorce from actor Sean Penn and dated actor Ben Foster. Julianne Moore is going strong with her director husband, Bart Freundlich, who is ten years younger than her.
And this is not only observed among the women in Hollywood. 66-year-old actor, James Woods, debuted his 20-year-old girlfriend, Kristen Bauguess, on the red carpet premiere of his movie, "White House Down," last year, New York Daily News said.
When asked about the age gap between her and her then-boyfriend, Lopez told Entertainment Tonight, "I ask him, 'Why don't you go find a young girlfriend and get out of here? What do you want with me?' And you think, 'How long is this gonna be?'," she admits. "You think, 'Okay, in 10 years I'm going to be like this and you're going to be like that' and ... men at that age are ... I think all different things. The truth is we don't know what's going to happen. We're loving this moment right now. We make each other happy."
Although it seems to look like a trend, Lopez and perhaps every other individual who had been or is currently involved in a May-December romance believes that truly, age is just a number.
HuffPost Live host Nancy Redd talked to a couple who, despite the fact that they're not famous, they agreed that age gap in relationships is actually not a factor in couples.
"Mostly, the people who notice our age difference are people who don't know us. The people who know us don't pay any attention to it," Ron Lambert, who has been married with his wife Gayle Luster for 25 years.
Luster, on the other hand, saw the benefits of being in a relationship with a much, older husband. How old? Try 15 years.
"There's a lot of wisdom that comes on his end, he's got children, he was married before, and on my end, I bring a lot of creative youth and energy to the relationship which keeps us spunkier then a lot of couples that have been together for this long," she said.
Lopez echoed this in the same interview with ET. Referring to her 2011 divorce with Marc Anthony, she said, "I just got out of a big, heavy, devastating thing, and he's helped me heal. I don't regret those things - that's who I am. But at least now I'm at a point where I have to recognize that these choices and things that happen are partly because of me and my decisions and I have to be more careful. So I am being more careful."
Despite the fact that the 22-year-old Posey is currently engaged with his childhood sweetheart, Seana Gorlick, and are set to marry this year, Hollywood Life said, it shouldn't be a problem if the actor, in an alternate universe does break it off and hook up with the now single, 44-year-old Latina.
