'World War Z 2' Release Date, Plot & Trailer: 5 Best Scenes From Part 1

After thanking high heavens for a successful theatrical run of his big-budget film project, "World War Z," Brad Pitt then went on to announce that there will be a follow up to the zombie apocalypse flick.

When asked about the possibility of making a sequel, Pitt said that he and his cohorts are "certainly talking about it, yes."

"We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work," he told Variety. "We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further."

Pitt's positive outlook on making a part 2 is understandable, considering the box office revenues. The film, as the publication pointed out, is "Pitt's most successful movie ever," grossing about $540 million globally. The film, according to Variety, "was the recipient of bad buzz early prior to its release," but it turned out to be one of 2013's most remarkable surprise hits.

So, while we await the coming of "World War Z 2," which is yet to start filming, let's relish some of the film's best scenes, as follows:

The Plane Scene

"That moment in World War Z in which jet-passenger zombies in coach attack the humans luxuriating in first class. First you laugh, then you scream - love that combo," Rolling Stone noted.

The Jerusalem Wall Spectacle

The sight of multitudes of zombies scaling an enormous wall is both arresting and horrifying - a combination of sensations that never fails to entertain zombie movie fans.

That Philadelphia Incident

This is one of the first scenes where the tension just builds and builds.

"The tension never ceases, but instead builds exponentially from one moment to the next," IndieWire noted. "Traffic is at a standstill; odd but not out of the ordinary. A cop warns the family to stay in the car; somewhat stranger. Then an explosion erupts and a giant truck starts to barrel through traffic; this is something to be concerned about. By the time the zombies show up, the tension has been ratcheted up to an almost unbearable level."

Admit it - you get so involved in the scene you find yourself involuntarily flinching along with the characters.

The Escape from Israel

The sight of an amputated hand, plus the blood spurting out of it. Then there's the helicopter that the zombies surprisingly manage to crash with their bare hands. Shudder.

The Pharmacy Scene

This sequence proves that it's not just the zombies that are terrifying - panicked people can be, too.

"When Pitt goes behind the counter to grab some asthma medicine for his young daughter, he's confronted with a young man with a shotgun... Who then identifies himself as a pharmacist and tends to Gerry's needs," Indiewire described. "It's a nice reversal and adds to the intensity of the following scene, wherein Gerry's wife (Mireille Enos) is nearly raped by some dudes in the same pharmacy."

"When a policeman comes in, it's to seemingly restore some kind of order (or penalize the near-rapists) but instead he runs by desperately clutching onto bottles of baby foods he also drops on the ground as he rushes to get back to his child," the site added. "This scenario is chilling, with a rather pessimistic view of a humanity faced with dire cicrumstances."
