Rumors of a Ariana Grande-Big Sean coupling emerged some time after the two collaborated on the track "Best Mistake," which was released just Monday this week.
Looks like the title is an apt label to the demise of both artists' respective romances - Big Sean broke his engagement to "Glee" Star Naya Rivera back in May, while Ari reportedly ended her reunion with Aussie Jai Brooks some weeks back.
So, is it true that the rapper and the songstress are more than just friends and professional collaborators? A source told Yahoo! that they are "quietly dating."
"They have been doing their best to hide their affection for one another. The couple recently snuck in about a quarter of the way into the film 'The Purge: Anarchy at The Grove' in Los Angeles, where they were supposedly spotted kissing," the site said.
Another source told E! News that the pair are indeed dating, thus affirming the Yahoo! Report.
"They have been friends since they made the song together. They have been spending more time together and recently have been getting very close. They are both doing great," the insider told the entertainment news source.
Meanwhile, reps for both artists have not yet commented on the rumor. As such, there is still no official confirmation on the pairing.
Big Sean and the 21-year-old pop singer had previously collaborated in the past, partnering for "Right There," which was released almost exactly a year ago. It was Ari's third and final single from her first album "Yours Truly." They also collaborated on "Problem".
The duo joined forces once again this year for "Best Mistake," which is about "Grande and her beau trying to make up their minds about the future of their relationship, which deep affection buried underneath their problems," Billboard noted.
Is this song about her relationship with on-and-off boyfriend, Jai?
"Ariana allegedly ended things with 19-year-old Australian comedy star Jai Brooks last month because he wasn't there for her during a difficult time," The Daily Mail said. "Ariana first started dating Jai, a member of the Australian YouTube comedy and prank group The Janoskians, in August 2012."
"The pair allegedly split in July last year and then rekindled their romance in May, when they were spotted enjoying a passionate embrace backstage at the iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles," the British publication added.
Ariana had posted a telling message on Twitter not long after her second split with Jai, prompting observers to suspect it was also aimed at him.
"You learn a lot about love, life and the people around you during a time of crisis. I hope you will surround yourselves with people who will be there for you thru the bad times, not just the good. I thank everybody who was here for me when I needed them as the ones who weren't really broke my heart," the post read.
