"I should have been Wonder Woman."
That was statement of UFC women's champion Ronda Rousey when asked about her opinion on Gal Gadot taking on the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming 2016 film "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice".
Rousey was interviewed in the Tommy Toe Hold Show. The host asked the bantamweight champion which movie she believed would be better if she starred in it.
"They're making a Wonder Woman right now, aren't they? I should have been Wonder Woman. That girl couldn't curl a two-pound weight," Rousey added, in a report by Fox Sports.
According to HNGN, Zack Snyder, director of "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice", garnered doubts when he cast Gadot. Moreover, when Snyder revealed the initial images of Gadot as Wonder Woman during the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, the pictures received mixed reactions from fans, with many saying that Gadot was too thin to take on the role of the heroine. Others said that Gadot is a good fit, considering her beautiful face and lean figure. Rousey's comments also triggered some fans to say that she was not a good fit for the role at all.
According to the International Business Times, another female legend in MMA fighting, Gina Carano, defended Gadot. Carano appeared with Gadot in "Fast and the Furious 6". She said, "I definitely know (Gadot) has been training and there's so much more that goes into being a strong female character."
Sources reported that Gadot had been bulking up to fit her role better in the upcoming movie. Being naturally skinny, Gadot gained more muscle mass by doing intense workouts and doing sword fighting, Kung Fu, kickboxing, and jujitsu.
Rousey is also anticipating a movie appearance of her own. She is set to appear in a major motion picture for the first time in "Expendables 3", together with Sylvester Stallone and several other successful, albeit aging action heroes. The movie is the third of the successful franchise, featuring new cast members, like Wesley Snipes.
Rousey will also appear in the upcoming film "Entourage" which spawned from the successful TV series. She has already filmed and will play herself. Furthermore, she is set to appear in "Fast and the Furious 7" which hits theatres in 2015. Rousey's movie career is starting to gain momentum as Warner Bros. is also creating a whole movie around her dubbed "The Athena Project".
