Taylor Swift seems to channel her "You Belong With Me" character in her upcoming appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon.
A teaser video featuring Taylor has been uploaded on the offical YouTube page of the show.
Swift displayed her natural prowess in acting as she is seen as the nerdy Natalie, complete with prescription glasses and a set of metal braces on her teeth, getting fitted for Fallon's popular "Ew" segment, People observed. The segment is among Fallon's popular gimmicks in the show, and mostly features celebrities goofing with his onscreen character, Sara, who is a Harry Styles superfan with a weird lisp and gets grossed out with everything, including her stepdad, Gary.
The Celebrity Cafe said that Swift is no foreigner to playing nerdy characters. For her music video "You Belong With Me," Swift is seen playing a loser-type high school student who has been pining away for her hunky boyfriend and long-time friend next-door. On the other hand, Swift would be competing against the other celebrities who have appeared alongside Fallon in his skits: Channing Tatum, First Lady Michelle Obama, Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Will Ferrell, and The Jonas Brothers.
Meanwhile, it has been suggested that the Grammy winner would be debuting her album on the show. Her millions of followers believed that the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer would be dropping her fifth studio album soon, considering the number of clues she has been hinting via Instagram.
Cosmopolitan UK noted that Swift's first clue was a video of her in an elevator repeatedly pressing button number 18 with a caption that read, "So, here's your first clue..." Her second clue was a photo of an adorable snow-white cat with a clock display at 5:00. Her third clue was a screenshot of a Yahoo search results page with the following words typed on the dialog box "clue #3."
Based on the given clues, it is most likely that Swift might opt for a live stream debut rather than doing it on live television. Hallel quoted Swift during her "Red" tour promotion in Shanghai, which read, "As I've grown up, the things I've written about have completely evolved with how I was growing. I was writing songs about what it was like to be 18, what it was like to be 20, what it's like to be 22 and now I'm 24 and I'm still writing songs about my life. I think I really just love the unity it brings to me and the audience because chances are, they've felt the exact same way I felt when I wrote the song and I think it kind of reminds them-and it reminds me-that the human experience isn't so lonely."
