LeBron James has lost at least 10 pounds since Miami Heat's 2014 NBA championship loss, causing several fans and experts to speculate on his future plans with the Cavs.

In a report by Yahoo! Sports, the superstar took a couple of "selfies" and shared the photos on Instagram. He was obviously slimmer and less muscular compared to how he looked like just two months earlier.

LeBron generally weighed in the area of 250 to 265 pounds during the season, Yahoo Sports added. ESPN's Brian Windhorst tweeted that "LeBron James decided to cut carbs this summer & dropped significant weight". It seems LeBron is preparing for something big with his return to the Cavs. He previously shared that he was on a diet and he has joined #RunWithTheWinnersTO to support his friend, DJ Steph Floss.

Some experts speculate that he might be losing the extra pounds to shift from playing power forward to small forward. Although he was categorized as a small forward, LeBron usually took the number 4 position in several games. Other fans dismissed very serious notions and said that the star was merely trying a different look in the offseason. Yahoo Sports recalled that in 2013, he joined a pre-training camp weight loss challenge with former Heat teammates, Dwyane Wade, Mario Chalmers and Ray Allen.

According to ESPN, Coach David Blatt met with LeBron on August 5, 2014, as they prepare for the upcoming NBA season. Blatt reportedly saw a thinner James during the meeting. His face lost a lot of water and his frame and arms were thinner. It was only at that time that Blatt and James were able to meet since the latter had to go to Brazil and China for promotional trips with Nike. He is also shooting a movie in New York, ESPN added.

Some fans speculate that LeBron's sudden weight loss was a precautionary measure to avoid possible damage to his body since he played close to 40,000 minutes on the floor during the regular season and the playoffs in his 11-year career. Losing weight can be better for his knees. He might be looking up to veteran player, Tim Duncan, who also made changes to his body to reduce the risk of damaging his knees. James also witnessed how former Heat teammate, Wade, could no longer play in the same elite level due to bad knees.

Many other NBA stars actually made nutritional adjustments at the height of their career or began to improve in their ground game to increase their longevity in the sport. If those were also James' intentions, he can expect to play longer than most superstars.
