This summer, Liverpool is allegedly aiming to acquire winger, Ezequiel Lavezzi of Paris Saint-Germain.
In a report by Metro, Liverpool's intention to get Loic Remy, striker of Queen Park Rangers, did not push through after Remy failed his medical exam. Remy went through a variety of medical tests in Boston but failed. The bid for Remy was said to be worth £8.5 million but Liverpool has to add £10 million more to land Lavezzi.
According to Bleacher report, Darren Lewis and David Maddock of the Daily Mirror reported, "QPR chiefs are furious at Liverpool for claiming that Loic Remy's £8.5 million switch to Anfield has collapsed. Rangers still consider the deal is on and are also annoyed that the news leaked out from Merseyside yesterday afternoon. The move is understood to have hit the rocks over Remy's failure to pass a stringent medical. But further tests are planned on the France international today."
Should Remy proceed to play in Liverpool, the Reds will have financial flexibility as well as the needed backup for its top strikers.
PSG needs to release some players as it plans to acquire Angel Di Maria of Real Madrid to keep itself from violating the rules of Financial Fair Play created by the UEFA. To gain more money, they will likely let go of Lavezzi, who is a good alternative to Remy for Liverpool.
Jamie Anderson of Daily Express reported, "Spanish newspaper Marca have highlighted PSG's need to offload Ezequiel Lavezzi amongst others, to ensure their £63m offer doesn't exceed Financial Fair Play regulations. Liverpool have frequently been linked with a bid for the Argentine striker, but the news of his possible exit could accelerate a deal. And the last second refusal to sign QPR forward Loic Remy will only add fuel to the fierce speculation surrounding Lavezzi's arrival."
Lavezzi is 29 years old and was acquired from Napoli in 2012 for £24 million. He appeared 32 times and scored nine goals in Ligue 1. He is not a scoring machine, but is well-experienced in huge competitions. He also complements a good striker after training with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is set to work well with Daniel Sturridge.
Liverpool is also reportedly eyeing on Jay Rodriguez of Southampton. Team manager, Brendan Rogers, is said to have talked to Southampton, asking about Rodriguez's availability.
