Thousands of NBA fans are anticipating the release of the new video game "NBA 2K15" by 2K Sports on October 2014. The game promises enhanced graphics, readjusted rosters based on current trades and drafts, as well as a variety of customizable features.
The official cover art was also showcased on July 15, featuring MVP star Kevin Durant. Durant was shown driving the ball wearing his blue Oklahoma City Thunder uniform with the background of the city behind him in shades of red. The game title "NBA 2K15" appeared in bold letters at the top of the cover with the official NBA logo. Under the title, there is a line stating, "Music curated by Pharrell Williams". The game still has an "RP" logo, or rating pending.
In Bleacher Report, the game developer 2K Sports announced that rapper Pharrell Williams will curate the soundtracks and music for the video game. It will be the largest soundtrack in the history of the game series, although the full details of the songs included will only be revealed in the next several weeks. Williams shared that Strafe and System of a Down are some of the artists whose songs will be featured in the game.
In an IGN report, 2K Sports already revealed months ago that Kevin Durant will be featured on the cover of the game. Prior posters and proposed covers also circulated in social media sites but it was only on July 15 that the official cover was released. LeBron James was the cover man of the 2014 game. This is the first time that Durant will be on the cover of the NBA 2K series.Durant shared how excited he was about having to appear for the first time.
2K vice president for marketing Alfie Brody said that the Grammy-winning Pharrell was an excellent choice as curator, considering his musical expertise and reputation for having a good vision. Fans already expect that the song "Happy" will be included in the list.
Brody said, "Pharrell's passion and reputation as a visionary producer and expertise from working with the NBA will be evident in the largest and most eclectic NBA 2K soundtrack ever. We really listened to our fans' feedback on how we could improve their experience from a music standpoint, and we're confident Pharrell's collaboration in NBA 2K15 will impress players as much as it's impressed us."
NBA 2K15 will launch on October 7 and can be played on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
