If you loved the first season of "True Detective," then you may be excited to know that two of the most intense and hot actors in Hollywood are in deep talks to take the lead roles in the series. According to The Wrap, Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are having meetings with the show's executives to discuss the exciting project.

The choice seems logical, even though both Farrell and Kitsch, haven't really been in any blockbusters lately. The decision to cast both actors can be linked largedly to HBO President Michael Lombardo's promise that he would be bringing in big stars with top acting chops. In an article by TV Guide, Lombardo was quoted as saying, "I think you will be pleased with the show. The people who we will cast will be well-known names. Great writing attracts great actors."

Nic Pizzolatto, director of the hit HBO series, revealed in an interview with The Daily Beast, that Season 2 will have four central roles. The two main characters that the show originally featured were portrayed by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Pizzolatoo added that while he missed working with both actors, the production had to make way for new stories, and hence, new actors. Early rumors on the show say Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin and Christian Bale may join the main cast, but it appears Farrell and Kitsch are now the top names for the lead roles.

"Creating new characters for Season 2 was the same experience as creating Rust and Marty. They didn't exist until I created them, then in their creation I developed a personal attachment to them. I think it's the same in anything you write. It's your job to come up with compelling characters who speak to an individual authenticity," said Pizzalatto when asked about the storyline of the next season, which to this date, is still a mystery.

However, Lombardi may have given a tiny hint on the show's next setting. "It takes place in California -- not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California -- and we're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in Season 1," he said, in an interview with Variety.

It is still unknown whether the series will include a female co-star, although there have been rumors that Jessica Chastain may be joining the group.

Farrell is known for his recent work on "Seven Psychopaths" and "Saving Mr. Banks," while Kitsch has been receiving praise for his performance in "The Normal Heart."
