Fall is coming, and so is the highly-anticipated series based on the Dark Knight's beloved city. According to HitFix, Fox's latest Batman spinoff treatment, "Gotham," will air on Monday, September 22. The Batman prequel will be followed by the second season premiere of "Sleepy Hollow."
Fox has released a new teaser of the Batman prequel which features exciting new footage from the series. The video clip, which TV Guide has exclusively obtained, shows executive producer Bruno Heller talking about the Ben McKenzie-led superhero drama.
In the video, Heller said, "The great thing about Gotham is it encompasses so many different worlds. The tone is both fun and dark. It's sexy but dangerous. It's a world of craziness and a world of beauty. And the show encapsulates all of that."
Screencrush reported that McKenzie will be playing the young James Gordon, a rookie cop who is paired with gruff detective Harvey Bullock, played by Donald Logue. The show will be focusing on a pre-Batman era. The series will be opening on Gordon's investigation of the murders of the wealthy couple, Thomas and Martha Wayne, Master Bruce Wayne's parents.
The show will be featuring old and new villains. "Gotham" will have Jada Pinkett Smith as crime boss Fish Mooney, and David Mazouz, Robin Lord Taylor and Camren Bicondova as young versions of Bruce Wayne, Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin) and Selina Kyle (Catwoman), respectively, TV Guide said.
Screencrush added that "FOX's 'Gotham' may not hold its own Comic-Con 2014 panel this year, though the cast will certainly be on hand with the pilot premiere."
"Gotham" will air Monday nights on Fox, so empty those TiVos while there's still time.
