UFC 175 Results: Dana White Furious at Joe Rogan After 'Putting Rousey on the Spot'?

UFC president Dana White was reportedly angry at commentator Joe Rogan for ambushing Ronda Rousey with a question after the latter won at UFC 175 on July 5.

Rousey successfully defended her women's bantamweight title via a 16-second knockout. After the match, Rogan approached the champion and asked if she would be willing to fight again in three weeks. Apparently, another match has to be placed in lieu of the cancelled fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes at UFC 176.

Rogan asked, "The truck just asked me to ask you if you would fight on August 2."

According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Rousey told Rogan, "If they needed me to step up, I would do it. I would appreciate the rest, but if they really needed me to do it, they know I would do it." She added, "(I'm) schedule for knee surgery already. I'm going to talk to my coaches, and if they say it's cool with them, it's cool with me. I'll do it."

In a report by MMA Junkie, Dana White was angry at the broadcasters, not at Rogan, for sending the question and putting Rousey on the spot. He said, "I wasn't upset with Joe Rogan; I was upset with the truck telling [Rogan] to tell Ronda that she's going to fight again. That wasn't true. That was some [expletive] that somebody made up back there."

Rousey appeared very strong after the match. However, she shared that her lingering right hand injury got worse after she punched Davis. She had the skin on her knuckle split open. The injury did not heal properly since she continued training so a cyst formed beneath the skin. When she hit Davis, Rousey needed nine stitches. From UFC 168 and 170, Rousey kept tearing her knuckle open and merely prevented any infection from developing. She plans to have a doctor remove the cyst soon. She said that her arthroscopic surgery on the knee will bring her back 100 percent in two weeks.

Ronda Rousey has fought three times already in the past six months. In the meantime, she would benefit a lot from a well-deserved rest. Also, there seems to be no female contenders that would be exciting enough to face the champion. Although someone has to fill in the void left by the cancelled men's featherweight card, Dana White was adamant that he would not let Rousey fight in such a short notice.
