Wrestling fans will be excited to know that WWE World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena, will be on the cover of the upcoming WWE 2K15 which will be released in October this year.
Having Cena on the second game release in the WWE series published by 2K Sports is no surprise. In fact, fans have been asking why the company waited so long to feature Cena, considering that he is currently on his twelfth reign as champ. According to his bio, as at June 2014, the pro wrestler has 22 championships reigns under his belt and is a 15-time world champ. He has the fourth highest number of days as number one, next to Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan and Bruno Sammartino.
The new WWE 2K15 design features a new logo to replace the old scratched look that has been used in all materials since 1997. This very same logo is also what will be used across all WWE related collaterals starting August. The WWW Network has already begun using it in its channel and those who watched Wrestlemania 31 might have seen it.
In an interview with Polygon, Mark Little, executive producer of WWE 2K15, said that the upcoming game is a huge upgrade to the previous version and promises a more polished visual and motion capture experience. This latest version will reportedly feature more animation than any of the older WWE titles, plus better body proportions and textures. When it comes to gameplay, Little added that it's not really a fighting game, given the scripted nature of the real deal itself.
"The choreogrpahy that goes on in a match in the WWE is a very different thing than what we'll be able to replicate. But what we will be able to bring to life is that opportunity to have that experience. So if you want to use the ring psychology of a wrestler, the match will play out like a normal wrestling match should," he was quoted as saying.
The previous version, WWE 2K14, which was released in 2013, had The Rock on the cover, according to Attack of the Fan Boy. While Dwayne Johnson isn't really an active wrestler, the decision to place him on the cover could have been driven by economy, given that the wrestler-turned-actor tends to attract more curious gamers to try it out.
WWE 2K15 will be out on October 28 in the U.S. and on October 31 internationally for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
