WWE 2K15 Release Date & Roster: New Game Modes Confirmed

Game developer 2K Sports announced the upcoming WWE 2K15, the professional wrestling video game.

According to 2K Sports, the new version will be full of new game modes and upgraded visuals. Some well-loved characters will also be part of the game such as John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Bray Wyatt, Antonio Cesaro and Roman Reigns.

In a report by International Business Times, the knowledge and skills of Visual Concepts and Yuke developers were put to work to improve the popular wrestling video game. According to Chris Snyder, 2K Sports senior marketing director, the future of video games depend heavily on future gaming consoles, which was the reason for the shift of concept development.

During the E3 2014, several screenshots of WWE 2K15 were shown, although no official demo was presented yet. Fans of the game can expect high resolution images and upgraded details on their favorite wrestlers. 2K passed down the approach used in NBA 2K15 to make the characters very realistic and true-to-life. The faces and bodies in particular are very sharp and detailed.

According to Farsnews, the skin tone and facial features of characters looked very realistic compared to previous versions of the game. Textures on the face and skin were very noticeable. The game was shown limitedly during the E3 2014 and it seemed like 2K learned a lot from the success of NBA 2K. Commentaries by WWE hosts Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole were recorded to make wrestling matches more exciting and realistic in-game. The approach is similar to the pre-recorded commentaries of NBA hosts for NBA 2K.

Aside from the detailed characters, reappearance of key wrestlers and recorded commentaries, gamers can enjoy the various game modes such as the Universe mode, Wrestle Mania mode and Attitude Era. Some gamers shared that there is a possibility that the new WWE 2K15 may allow them to create their own characters to appear on NXT. Others have forwarded their opinions and suggestions in 2K forums as to which wrestlers they wish to include in the roster.

Fans are looking forward to actual in-game previews. WWE 2K15 is bound for release on October 28, 2014. The game will be available for PlayStation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Snyder said, "We've improved the core gameplay experience. This is not a fighting game with WWE characters. We tweak gameplay every year for NBA 2K and we're doing the same thing for WWE. We have a lot of new game modes coming out, too."
