The Obama campaign has released a preview to the President's convention speech entitled "Promises Kept," with the goal of curbing GOP criticisms that the many pacts Barack made with the American people were hollow. The Democratic National Convention, which has hosted impassioned speeches by both Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton, has served as a valuable platform for biting rebuttals against the Romney campaign's remarks.
The video highlights Obama's 2008 DNC speech, the death of Osama bin Laden, the withdrawal of troops from Iraq, the pursuit of alternative energy sources, and pay parity legislation such as the Lilly Ledbetter Act. Additionally, Barack's history of cutting taxes for working families and small businesses is touched upon.
"From cutting taxes for middle-class families to bringing about comprehensive health care reform to re-investing in education and infrastructure, President Obama has kept his promise to rebuilt America for millions of families," argued the Obama campaign.
The campaign adds, "As this video shows, President Obama has kept the promises he made in 2008 to move our country forward."
Republican Party chairman Reince Priebus offers a response to the campaign's claims, stating: "President Obama has presided over four straight trillion-dollar deficits."
"And how about the middle class? Under President Obama, median household income has declined by over $4,000," Priebus continues.
Senior campaign advisor David Plouffe shared with the NBC "Today Show" that "these speeches are all of a piece. We're telling a story here.
I think President Clinton laid out very powerfully the president's record and the choice in this election. The President obviously tonight is going to talk about his record but [also] the path in front of the country."
Obama will speak today, Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.
