'Avengers' star Scarlett Johansson is among a few celebrities rumored to make an appearance Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention. According to CNN, the actress is scheduled to appear after a performance by The Foo Fighters on the night when President Obama will accept his party's nomination for the presidential election.
Johansson's attendance at the DNC has not been confirmed by convention organizers or the actress but has been rumored to appear with Natalie Portman and Kerry Washington. The Daily Beast, however, reported that actress Portman will not be attending the event. Both Portman and Johansson have been vocal about their support for Obama in the past.
CNN reported that the three celebrities would be catering to two communities the Obama campaign is interested in-women and young voters.
Actress and activist Eva Longoria has been confirmed to appear Thursday night and will be presenting President Obama. Longoria, a co-chair for Obama's reelection campaign, has been working towards reaching out to the Latino and women's communities.
The Democratic National Convention, which is being held in Charlotte, N.C. this year, also called upon actor Kal Penn to speak on behalf of the President. Last week, Hollywood icon, Clint Eastwood, spoke and lent his support to Republican nominee Mitt Romney during the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.
Johansson previously showed her support for Obama when she co-hosted the Runway to Win fundraiser with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour during New York City's fashion week last February. The fundraiser, which raised funds for the reelection campaign, featured Obama campaign gear designed by Tory Burch, Alexander Wang, Vera Wang, and Diane Von Furstenberg, the Los Angeles Times reported.
According to CNN, a DNC official could not confirm Johansson's appearance at the convention on Thursday.
