The Los Angeles Kings beat the New York Rangers in double overtime to lead the Stanley Cup finals series 2-0.

Game 2 was played at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The New York Rangers started strong in the same fashion as in Game 1 and led 2-0. Later on, the Rangers still led by two points with the scores at 3-1. They maintained their lead in the third period with the scores at 4-2. However, the Kings were on a comeback again. During the second overtime and the clock at 10:26, Dustin Brown redirected a shot by Willie Mitchell to give the Kings the lead. The game ended with a final score of 5-4.

It is the fourth time during the NHL playoffs that the Kings recovered from a two-point deficit. According to Fox Sports, Marian Gaborik tied the game with 12:24 remaining in regulation. In the third period, Dwight King scored a debated goal but the referees called it in favor of Los Angeles. Stoll added another goal for the Kings.

In a report by USA Today, Mitchell said while laughing, "We were thinking, 'We're gonna rope-a-dope 'em again'. No, actually, that wasn't what we were thinking at all." He added, "It's not the place we want to be, to have to climb out all the time. Sooner or later, it is going to bite you. I guess that's the great part about it is we find a way to battle back. We've got some work to do again."

Jake Muzzin, defenseman of the Kings said, "We're getting used to it, I guess. I don't know. You just battle. You're in the zone. You're playing and having fun. That's what it is about, winning games in the playoffs and battling in overtime. We've been lucky to come out on top in three of them here."

The Kings are only two victories away from winning the Stanley Cup. Game 3 will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 9, says Yahoo! Sports. The Kings continue to claw their way despite a nail-biting deficit but they need to be more aggressive in the beginning to avoid having to play catch-up. AnzeKopitar, leading scorer of the Kings said that they get a bigger sense of urgency when they trail behind. He said, "But we have some more room to improve. Obviously, we're going to have to."
