At the French Open, Andy Murray of the United Kingdom beat Andre Golubev of Kazakhstan in four sets on Court Suzenne Lenglen. The final score was 6-1, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3. The previous year, Murray was not able to play due to a back injury.
Murray initially complained about the camera starting the match, but subsequently established his rhythm as he work with the device. He said that the moving camera was distracting when he is tossing the ball or moving between serves. He dropped serve five times and the match lasted for 2 hours and 35 minutes.
Andy Murray said in a BBC article, "It was good enough to win the match. I didn't play spectacular tennis but conditions didn't really allow that. It was very windy and very cold, heavy, and against a player who was very aggressive and quite up and down."
He added in a report by The Telegraph, "It was tricky conditions out there, so it wasn't easy to play great tennis or very exciting tennis. You just had to just play a sort of solid, high percentage game. But I was definitely excited to be back playing here. I came here a few weeks ago to practice with Tsonga, and I was looking forward to it even more after that."
Golubev, on the other hand, made 59 errors. His obvious mistake is going for very difficult shots in each rally, allowing Murray to score about two free points per game. He had three errors that allowed Murray to lead by two sets.
After winning the match, Murray was welcomed by a huge round of applause. Murray proceeds to the second round, contented that he advanced despite not having played for a year. He is set to face Marinko Matosevic, who won over Dustin Brown in four sets. After winning, Matosevic lied on his back on the court then rolled to the net, covered in red dust writes The Guardian.
