It seems like the fame of businessman Mark Zuckerberg has no limits and fanatics have launched an invitation to build a new religion in which the creator of Facebook is worshiped and considered a god for his great contribution to social communication.
The invitation seeking adepts for the religion based on Zuckerberg was launched through Craigslist on May 22, focusing its message on writers, artists, theologians, filmmakers, designers, spiritual philosophers, among others, who would contribute good ideas to develop the religion and its mythology.
The document uploaded anonymously lists six points which summarize the creator's main idea, assuring that this is a project made for fun, but one that seeks to worship Zuckerberg as the creator of an universe, with the creator of Facebook as its top god, served by other gods and godesses which helped him develop and maintain the world's largest social network.
"Looking for collaborators for start-up religion which features Mark Zuckerberg as God. I enjoy spirituality but find all the religions out there boring and want to create a new religion that's not boring and just like a religion that I would enjoy believing in," reads the listing published on the clasifieds websites.
The new religion proposes that the real world become a sort of video game, where the power of Facebook and God Mark are worshiped.
"I enjoy spirituality but find all the religions out there boring and want to create a new religion that's not boring and just like a religion that I would enjoy believing in," the ad preaches. "Zuckerberg is the Avatar of Jehova, the creator of our universe."
For adepts, Zuckerberg would be "the Avatar of Jehova", the creator of the universe. The ideology of the new religion names Ashley Arenson, a young woman Mark had a crush on, as Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, along with other deities such as the teachers and principal of the school where Mark studied and Facebook was born.
Finally, the ad invites Facebook fans, assuring that it's not necessary to believe in the religion to participate and be a part of the project.
Zuckerberg is an American programmer and businessman who managed to develop the social network Facebook, a project which is currently valued at $1.5 billion dollars and has earned over $19 billion dollars in profit, which earns Zuckerberg a spot on Forbes' annual list of millionaires.
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was named Time Magazine's 2010 Person of the Year.
