The fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie franchise was supposed to be released next year. However, judging by the progress of the film's pre-production arrangements, it appears that a 2015 launching won't be feasible.

And now, according to Repeating Islands, the movie will be shown some time in 2016.

Why is "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" taking so long to be made? What's the reason for this very long delay?

"We haven't seen a screenplay yet that I've been able to sign off on...There's a lot of variables that affect the final outcome once it leaves the studio lot, so we are very careful," said Alan Horn, Disney's chairman, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Johnny Depp has previously made it clear that he will be back for the fifth sequel as Captain Jack Sparrow, arguably the movie franchise's most memorable character. However, according to Nola, Depp appeared to be also involved in the script, reportedly working with screenwriter Jeff Nathanson.

"I have high hopes for that 'Pirates 5' because if that's really the last one, which it probably is, I feel that we owe it to the audience who went and saw the films so many times. We'll do it right and end it on a high note," Depp was quoted as saying.

"The film currently exists only as a 'well-received outline' and screenwriter Jeff Nathanson is currently working on a second script," Business Insider said. According to a "studio source," the original script was said to be "complicated and hard to follow," as well as "too expensive."

Another possible reason for the delay was the fact that Disney's "The Lone Ranger" turned to be a flop, making the studio "take a write down of up to $190 million," according to The Telegraph. As a result, Disney is being extra cautious about the next couple of films they churn out.
