One of the most famous Latino music singers in the United States and the world is without a doubt Marc Anthony, who throughout his life has faced great challenges and dodged obstacles to reach his current fame, but every situation gave him great lessons, as he himself reveals during an interview with Men's Fitness magazine.
In the latest issue of the men's magazine, Marc opens up his heart and makes revealing statements of his personal life which show a person who fought every day to reach his dreams and become the great star he is today.
Before Marc became one of the singers with the most number of sold albums and won multiple Billboard and Grammy awards, he had to face unpleasant moments during his childhood and teenage years, growing in a macho environment in a Latino neighborhood in East Harlem in New York, which during the 70's and 80's made him a victim of bullying due to his low height and extreme thinness.
"In Latino culture - back then, anyways - being thing was seen as a kind of weakness for some reason," he said. "There were people testing you," Marc told the magazine.
For Marc, his father's support was essential to face the harassment and bullying from his neighbors and classmates. His father, A former amateur bodybuilder imposed certain activities to improve his condition; however, he always sought to place him in reality, something that despite being somewhat harsh, for Anthony they were lessons that helped him face life.
"Son, I'm ugly and you're ugly, so work on your personality," the singer quoted his father who years later would give him the same advice despite the success he achieved. "Some months ago I asked my father if he remembered the thing he would tell me when I was little, and he said 'I'd say them to you today too'. I think all of that helped me a lot because I won confidence, and that's very powerful," he said.
On his romantic life, Marc also made some revealing statements and it seems like the singer of "Vivir Mi Vida" still longs for one of his ex partners.
For Marc, attitude is one of the keys to success, beyond the physical.
