Puerto Rican singers Víctor Manuelle and Gilberto Santa Rosa united their voices to pay homage to the late Boricua singer Cheo Feliciano, launching a new version of the song "Canta, canta", according to the office of representatives of Santa Rosa, quoted by EFE.

The press release pointed out that the new version was directed by Louis García and will be presented live next June 21 in a homage concert that the salsa duo will carry out in their native island.

The new version of "Canta, canta" will be released on Thursday, May 8 by the local broacasters of Puerto Rico, with a unique touch that revive the original song composed by Rafael Hernández and that the late Cheo added to his album "El Cantante" in 1976.

Santa Rosa, known as the "gentleman of salsa", said that despite Cheo's passing, his character will live on forever through his music, acknowledging the great meaning Feliciano's legacy has left for the Puerto Rican and Latino peoples.

"I have no doubt that our song will fill many with memories and will awake interest in others to know more about the history of our popular music," said Santa Rosa.

On his part, Víctor Manuelle, one of the most renowned by the Latino public in the United States, said he's happy for the opportunity he had to record "Canta, canta" along Santa Rosa and to share the stage with him in the concert "Dos soneros cantan a Cheo Feliciano" in the José Miguel Agrelot Colisseum in San Juan.

José Luis "Cheo" Feliciano Vega died on April 17 in a tragic car accident because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. It seems like the 78 year old singer fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of his vehicle, crashing against a lamp post, according to local San Juan authorities.
