Speculation on the health of Mexican singer Juan Gabriel reached an extreme when the rumor of his death invaded social networks for a few moments.
The rumors of the death of the "Divo of Juárez" were spread by Mexican websites, which quoting sources close to the singer, assured that Alberto Aguilar Valdez had died in a Las Vegas hospital where he had been hospitalized since last April 14 for a case of pneumonia.
The information was spread through Twitter, the same social network where Mexican journalist Joaquín López Dóriga (one of the most renowned news anchors in the country) used to dismiss the information.
"I have been informed that the news that Juan Gabriel died are fake, and that his recovery is such, that he will leave the hospital in Las Vegas tomorrow," said López Dóriga.
In the first hours of Wednesday, his manager reported that the singer continued to be hospitalized under strict medical attention.
"He is recovering, it wasn't enchiladas, it was serious and he's still in the hospital. Honestly, doctors are afraid that if he leaves, he won't follow instructions and we know him, we know his theory on naturist medicine. If doctors are keeping him in the hospital is because that's how it must be and his sons agree, all the family does, that's why we're waiting to see if he can leave soon, once his treatment is over, as it should be," he said, reported a local source.
It was on Thursday, May 8, when Juan Gabriel checked out and was able to leave the Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, said his representative, Jesús Salas Campa, reporting that the singer satisfactorily ended his recovery process from a case of pneumonia which attacked him during his tour through the United States, besides being monitored for high blood pressure problem, said CNN.
"His health improved considerably since he started the treatment," he said, and added that Juan Gabriel will stay in Las Vegas and Los Angeles until he can fulfill his commitments.
In the last press release officialy emmited by family members of the "Divo of Juárez" on his website, it was reported that the singer returned to the hospital after checking out, denying the rumors of cancer and chronic problems.
Juan Gabriel's illness forced him to cancel his performances in the United States and Latin America, dates which were delayed to August.
