Jorge Vergara, the owner of the Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico Chivas sports club said on Wednesday, April 30 that the soccer team's manager, Argentinian national Ricardo La Volpe, will no longer provide any services whatsoever for the team due to what he called "inappropriate conduct".
With barely a month on the job and four matches led in which he got one win, one draw and two losses, the Argentinian manager was fired after a woman who worked for the sports club, whose named was not revealed for security reasons and avoid undermining the investigation, reported the manager for "inappropriate conduct", Reuters confirmed on Wednesday.
"I thank you for being here. This is the most shameful press conference. Ricardo La Volpe is no longer a part of the Chivas sports institution due to inappropriate conduct against a member of the female staff, I can't give out any names because of the current investigation and the report against the Chivas club, and because for the person involved in the ordeal, it was very difficult and disgusting," said Jorge Vergara in a press conference, reported Mexican newspaper Milenio.
Although the owner of the Guadalajara soccer team Chivas did not reveal further details on the incident, he did report that the team is evaluating possible candidates to manage the team and replace La Volpe.
Francisco Palencia, sports director of Chivas, highlighted that the vacant position of team manager, following La Volpe's removal, must be filled as soon as possible, since the team is preparing for the Mexican soccer 2014 Apertura Tournament, a tournament that Chivas fears could mean being demoted, according to sports website Goal.com.
Sixty-two-year old Ricardo La Volpe has built his career as a manager for Mexican football clubs such as Atlante, América, Querétaro, Atlas, Toluca and Monterrey, among others.
