Atletico Madrid won against Chelsea FC with a final score of 3-1 to move on to their first ever Champions League final. They will be facing Real Madrid next, to hopefully win the 10th European Crown. The road will be difficult, however, since they will be facing Carlo Ancelotti, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, among others, who recently decimated Bayern Munich with a final score of 4-0. The two teams will be facing off on May 24, 2014.

Atletico Madrid was the underdog in the matchup and it was almost evident that Chelsea would be winning the match, considering their great showing at home games. However, the two teams are equal in terms of playing style and strategy. Atletico's attacks were more careful and precise, while their defense was solid and efficient. Atletico proved that it was the best in shutting down offense. Chelsea also featured a solid defense with the presence of David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic, among others.

The opening goal was made by Fernando Torres in favor of Chelsea FC. It seemed fitting that Torres, who used to play in Atletico, was also the first to score against his former club. He did not celebrate as much after scoring, according to Goal.com. However, on half time, Atletico Madrid gave Chelsea a huge upset and scored via Adrian, Turan and Costa, according to a report by The Roar.

Atletico also led the tie via the first goal made by Adrian. The initial strategy of both teams was to capitalize on counterattacks and avoid unnecessary turnovers. Diego Costa scored the second goal as Schwarzer was made to move the opposite direction. Arda Turan tapped home the rebound to score the last goal for Madrid.

Simeone substituted Turan with ten minutes on the clock. Simeone was already calm and relaxed late in the game and preferred to preserve his key players to avoid suffering the same fate as Alonso of Real Madrid. Alonso will not be playing on the May 24 final due to a yellow card.
