Last year, Gwyneth Paltrow was quoted "ranting her displeasure" about the Met Gala. "I'm never going again," she said, according to Us Weekly. "It sucked. It seems like it's the best thing in the world, you always think, 'Oh my god, it's gonna be so glamorous and amazing' and you're going to see all these people and then you get there and it's so hot and it's so crowded and everyone's pushing you."
You would think Anna Wintour would hold her comments against her and be miffed by her rant. However, it appeared she let those statements go over her head, as she extended an invitation to the 41-year-old actress once more for this year's glitzy event. And it's not true that she wasn't invited because of the "conscious uncoupling" or the alleged debt her site Goop had accumulated.
Some would think that she might change her mind and decide to attend this year. After all, things might be different and turn out better, right?
Not for Gwynnie - apparently, she stuck to her word and turned the invite down.
"Gwyneth will not be in New York and is unable to attend the ball," her rep told The New York Post.
It looked like the memory of last year's punk-themed soiree was still as fresh and "suck-y" as ever for her. She did mention that she just "went as kind of normal" to the Gala, as she thought "we're all a bit old to dress up punk."
She also mentioned being displeased with Kanye West's conduct at the party. The rapper was one of the performers of the annual bash last year.
"Kanye West was playing and he was all furious and he threw his microphone down and it was all drama. I don't know why," Gwyneth said, as noted by The Daily Mail.
However, she admitted being pleased at meeting South Korean artist and "Gangnam Style" singer Psy at last year's shindig.
"We're at the Met Ball and our son is obsessed with [Psy]...so we went up and Chris was like, 'Hello, I'm from the band Coldplay,' but then Psy didn't seem to know who he was. But then he put two and two together and he was really happy to meet Chris. And we said, 'We're so sorry to bother you, but could we have a picture for our children?'"
Well, at least she received a ray of sunshine at the 2013 Met Gala. However, the Goop founder was not lost on the fact that the cons far outweighed the pros.
