Rescue teams continue to look for a pilot who has been missing since Sunday, after an air accident between two planes overflying northern San Francisco Bay.
One of the planes managed to land safely after the accident; however, the pilot of the second plane is still missing and rescue teams look for him in San Pablo Bay, where some of the debris from the accident remains, reported the Daily Mail.
The accident happened at around 16:05 on Sunday, April 27 and involved a Cessna 210 and a Hawker Sea Fury TMK20. Both planes were flown by a single pilot, according to Ian Gregor, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The pilot of the Sea Fury managed to land 40 minutes later on the Eagle's Nest Airport in Ion, California, while the Cessna crashed to the sea and so far the pilot of the Cessna has not been found, according to CBS.
According to the same source, the spokesperson for the US Coast Guard, Lt. Jeannie Crump told the media that a team comprised of nine ships and two helicopters look for the pilot since Sunday afternoon, but so far they have only been able to locate the Cessna's remains.
The planes involved in the crash had participated in the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show, an air show celebrated on Sunday at the Half Moon Bay airport.
According a fair spokesperson the event had ended and the two planes were heading back to the Ion airport when the accident happened, according to NBC.
"All the people involved with the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show are terribly sad with the news and we hope and pray that the missing plane and survivors are found," said the spokesman, reported NBC.
