A collective sigh of disappointment can be heard around the world as Courteney Cox crushes hopes of a "Friends" reunion. Cox, 49, appeared on David Letterman on Monday and flat out said, "It's not gonna happen."
While Letterman breached the topic saying that he didn't want to bring it up because "you're sick of the question, aren't you?" Cox, who played obsessive-compulsive Monica, explains how difficult it is to organize a simple cast dinner, let alone an entire reunion movie, writes Us Magazine.
"There's six friends and I have been trying to put together a cast dinner ten years."
"It doesn't happen," Us Magazine quotes the actress. "I mean, I can get the girls [Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow] to come, maybe Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc canceled last time, [David] Schwimmer lives here [in NYC versus Los Angeles], so it's just not going to happen."
Cox who stars in "Cougar Town" further explains that the show was basically filmed in one apartment so what would the movie contain? "We did the whole show on a soundstage in Monica's apartment," she said. "So what are you gonna do?"
This isn't the first time that key series actors have said a reunion would be unlikely. Matthew Perry along with "Friends" co-creator Marta Kauffman have squashed such idea, writes People. Jennifer Aniston did share to Conan O'Brien back in August about how she dreamt a reunion did happen, but she wasn't included in the film.
CBS News quoted Kaufman as saying, "I'm going to clear this up -- it's not happening," said the brains behind the hit show. "'Friends' was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there's no need anymore."
