The iconic '80s movie "Friday the 13th" is allegedly being revamped and is rumored to be directed by a fresh face.
According to Cosmic Book News, the new version of the film is looking at "V/H/S" contributor David Bruckner to direct the reboot film with franchise veterans Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form as producers.
Movies.com writes that the last "Friday the 13th" movie gets points for originality as it veered from the usual summer-camp plot by way of a flashback-type film. Marcus Nispel directed the film in 2009.
As for the 2015 version, plot details have not yet been released and it is currently unknown who will headline in the story. It is also not clear if the new film will take off from the previous installment or be a stand-alone movie. Given the typical storyline that the film has had, it'll be interesting to see how Bruckner will incorporate the Camp Crystal Lake myth as well as Jason Voorhees.
Screen Rant says that while Bruckner isn't as seasoned in terms of films under his belt, the director has shown he's skilled in his role behind the camera. The rumored "Friday the 13th" director is also a fresh take on the old story and may just give the film the breath of life it needs, notes the outlet.
David Bruckner's previous films include the 2007 horror film "The Signal" along with the 2011 movie "The Talk Show." Buckner is also famed for the "Amateur Nights" segment of found-footage type "V/H/S/" which was allegedly the best-received portion of the film, says Screen Rant. Brucker is currently working on a home invasion project titled "Intrusion" with producers Doug Davison and David Linde.
Paramount Pictures is allegedly looking to unleash horror through the reboot of the '80s horror flick on March 13, 2015, claims The Wrap.
