A woman was arrested in Utah, after police officers found the bodies of seven babies in cardboard boxes in the garage of her old house.
According to information published by ABC, Megan Huntsman, 39, had given birth to the babies between 1996 and 2006. Investigators were alerted on Saturday by an emergency call made by a family member now living in the residence where the suspect used to live.
Huntsman, from Pleasant Grove, moved from the home in 2011 and it wasn't until three years later when her family member discovered what the police thought was a newborn baby.
"A member of the family was cleaning the garage when they found a suspicious box. When they opened it, they found a baby inside," said the Captain of the Pleasant Grove Police Department, Michael Roberts, to ABC.
According to the Mirror, after the emergency call, police officers proceeded to investigate the scene and made the grisly find of six dead babies inside cardboard boxes.
Roberts told the media that six of the seven babies showed signs of being choked to death.
"This is incredible, I can't even comprehend it. It makes no sense at all," Roberts said.
Megan Huntsman was arrested and remains in prison accused of six charges of murder.
The man who had lived with Huntsman when the babies were born and the same person who alerted the authorities, has not been summoned to provide a statement for the police and his identity has not been revealed.
The bodies of the babies were sent to the Utah forensic office to determine the causes of the deaths, according to a report from The Associated Press, quoted by The Independent.
