Drake is creating a reputation for becoming the most famous sports fan in America. He is constantly seen in the sidelines of NBA courts and NFL fields, and even interviewed a few times after games.
He was in Texas to watch the Final Four with Johnny Manziel, who described Drake before as the top person in his bucket list. After the Kentucky Wildcats won the game, Drake went into the team dressing room, congratulating the players. A reporter asked the rapper, just before he was about to leave, if he had been supporting the Wildcats for a long time. The rapper responded, "Always."
In a report by Yahoo! Sports, Drake is actually linked to the Kentucky program, since John Calipari entered. A video showed the rapper coaching an alumni game in 2012.
He was also in attendance for the NBA match of the Toronto Raptors against the Indiana Pacers. Throughout the game, Drake was cheering non-stop, jumping from his seat every now and then to uplift the spirit of the Raptors. After the game, Drake again went to the team locker room to socialize with the players. On his way to the parking level, he found Jeff Weltman, assistant General Manager of the Raptors and shook the latter's hand, exclaiming, "Great game!" According to The Star, he even shook hands with a reporter and said the same thing.
Many people are actually wondering why Drake is getting too close to sports teams, particularly in American sports, despite the fact that he is Canadian. Sports fans have been poking fun at him for being annoyingly dedicated.
Drake is generally present in the major events in American sports, such as the 2014 NBA All-Star Weekend held in New Orleans in February, where he even functioned as a prop for Terence Ross in the slam dunk contest. He has photos hugging NBA stars and smiling beside players as they are interviewed. He also partied with Lebron James and the Miami Heat, writes SB Nation.
