Junior Lake, outfielder for the Chicago Cubs, wore the wrong jersey in their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 3, 2014, reports Fox Sports.
NBC Sports Network tweeted via its official account on Twitter, "Not really sure how this happens, but Cubs outfielder Junior Lake wore the wrong jersey today."
Apparently, Lake did not notice the difference in his uniform against what the rest of the team wore. The correct Cubs jersey for the game was gray with "Cubs" on the front. Lake wore the gray jersey with "Chicago" on the front. He played the entire first inning in the wrong uniform.
MLB experts speculate that the variety of uniforms and similarities in color may be contributive to the error. The rest of the team most likely did not notice the difference throughout the pre-game, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports.
Lake eventually realized his mistake during the first inning and fortunately, also had the right roadie jersey with him to change for the second inning. The Cubs won the game 3-2, with Lake finishing 1-for-4. Social media users were abuzz, sharing his photos in the wrong jersey and comparing it with what the other Cubs were wearing at the time. There were also memes, videos and jokes passed around Twitter and Instagram about Lake.

According to ESPN, the Cubs have two gray road jerseys for the 2014 MLB season. The jersey with the "Cubs" on the front was used by the team during the whole three-game series against Pittsburgh. Lake made the mistake during the last game while positioned in the left field.
Lake said that Justin Grimm, the person in the bullpen, informed him that he had the wrong jersey on. He took a look at himself and went back into the clubhouse at the end of the first inning to change. He added that he was confused since both gray jerseys were hung inside his locker.
