The alleged imitation of the accent of a Mexican person in a mocking manner made by a member of Florida's Governor, Rick Scott's campaign staff has caused great controversy in recent days, and members of his party have demanded him to ask for the firing of said advisor.

Mike Fernández, one of the main allies of Florida's current governor, quit last week from his position as finance advisor and funds collector for Scott's campaign, after reported the event last Friday, March 21.

According to El Miami Herald, Fernández, of Cuban origins, told said source through an email that a business associated, identified only as Luis, heard a member of the Governor's campaign staff "imitating a Mexican accent" in an insulting manner.

Fernández reported that his Latino associate went to a meeting with Scott's campaign advisors, and during the entire way to a Mexican restaurant he was exposed to mocking the way Latinos talk, and that the advisors ignored his recommendations to upgrade the supervision of campaign spending.

Since this information was revealed on Friday, many have speculated that this is the real reason the Cuban financial advisor quit the campaign of Florida's Governor, despite Fernández saying that he wished to spend more time with his family and his business.

On her part, Scott's campaign's director, Melissa Seller, denied the accusations of racist comments made by her staff and assured that the organization promotes diversity and does not allow offensive comments.

"Mike was not in the truck with the campaign manager. I spoke to every member in the car, if something was said in an accent, nobody can remember what it was. We're a diverse organization and we don't tolerate inappropriate comments," Sellers told the Miami Herald, reported The Huffington Post.

So far, Governor Rick Scott has not made any statements on the matter; however, two Miami democrats have asked Scott to fire the advisor who allegedly mocked the accent of Mexican people.
