As production gets closer and more casting is announced, more rumors are starting to begin about the plot of "Star Wars Episode VII."
According to MetroVisir.is the upcoming movie will be heading to Iceland to shoot a number of scenes for the film. The new location indicates that perhaps Hoth will return to the series. However according to the source the production team will only shoot landscape shots. Additionally the shots will be used as scenery for the film.
Production for the upcoming film has been kept under wraps but Disney has already confirmed that the film will be set 30 years after the 1983 hit "Return of the Jedi" and will feature new and familiar faces.
If Hoth returns to the sequel then perhaps audiences will revisit other planets such as Endor, Tattooine, and Naboo which were seen in the first six installments. Disney has yet to confirm the rumors but with production less than two months away, it is likely more details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
At the moment Disney Chief Bob Iger confirmed that the early concepts for the film are looking very good. He said, "The team is well into pre-production ... and from the concept art that I've seen so far, 'Star Wars: Episode VII' really looks amazing. For now, that's it. I'll get in trouble if I say more."
It has also been confirmed that R2D2 will return for the sequel. However casting has not been announced. Recent rumors point to Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o being up for a potential role in the film. The actress met with director J.J. Abrams but there is no word which character she will play.
"Girls" star Adam Driver is also rumored for a villain role after Variety announced that the actor is in talks to play a character similar to Darth Vadar.
Meanwhile it was revealed that a number of actors were shortlisted to play the lead role in the film. These include "Downton Abbey" actor Ed Speleers, "Attack the Block" star John Boyega, "Breaking Bad" and "Friday Night Lights" actor Jesse Plemons and theater actors Matthew James Thomas and Ray Fisher.
With familiar locations returning to the sequel it also expected that familiar characters from the first films will return. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford have hinted about their potential returns throughout the past year and will most likely be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Other actors who may return include Anthony Daniels as C3PO and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calirissian.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" will be directed by Abrams who is best known for his work on "Star Trek" and "Mission Impossible 3." The film will be produced Kathleen Kennedy and written by "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" scribe Lawrence Kasdan. The movie will also have John Williams return as the composer for the score while frequent Abrams Collaborator Dan Mindel will serve as Director of Photography.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" is set for release on Dec. 18, 2015.
