As early as now, sun devotees are already preparing for the summer months ahead. Ab-sculpting workouts, weight loss regimens, beach wear upgrades, and tropical getaway holidays -- check, check, and, thanks to TripAdvisor's latest travel survey results, check.
Recently, the travel site released a list of the world's best beaches for 2014.
"For those fed up with the long cold winter, there's really no better cure than an escape to one of these award-winning beaches," Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor, told Reuters. "Even if you can't go to one of these stunning beaches soon, just looking at the photos will take you away for a moment, until you can plan a trip."
Surely, you deserve to reward yourself with a trip to one of those gorgeous sandy paradises, right? It's not enough to ogle at a vacation destination teeming with turqouise waters and sunbeams - you just have to be there! Or at least at some beach that looks almost like one of them.
The winners of TripAdvisor's annual survey "were determined based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings for beaches on TripAdvisor gathered over a 12-month period," Reuters explained.
This year's top spot is taken by Brazil's Baio do Sancho, which also is "not the world's easiest beach to access," The Sydney Morning Herald noted. That's not surprising - many of the best coastal destinations aren't easy to get to.
The Sancho Bay, as it's known in English, is on the "remote island of Fernando de Noronha" and has waterfalls rushing over "lush green cliffs into turquoise waters." There also are dolphins and sea turtles in the area you can busy your eyes with.
