Charlize Theron Sean Penn Breakup Update: Actress Glum in Birthday Party After Boyfriend Kisses Mystery Woman

South African beauty Charlize Theron looked sad when she stepped out from a children's birthday party yesterday in Beverly Hills without her boyfriend Sean Penn, Daily Mail said.

The actress' outfit also reflected her somber mood despite carting some festive items. Based on paparazzi photos obtained by the UK tabloid, Theron was wearing a gray shirt over a black and gray wool bomber jacket and skinny jeans. The "Prometheus" star topped the ensemble with a large cream-colored messenger bag and a gray fedora. Hiding her eyes were a pair of tortoise shell-rimmed dark sunglasses. Theron managed a brief unconvincing smile to photographers and resumed her moody look afterwards.

In an earlier report, Daily Mail said Theron's main squeeze, Sean Penn, is currently in romantic Paris and had lunch with "Blue Is The Warmest Colour" actress Adele Exarchopoulos. The 53-year-old thespian kissed the 20-year-old Palme d'Or winner of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival on both cheeks, which is a traditional salutation for the French. Although Penn should have been with Theron, it appeared that the kiss was innocent, Daily Mail added.

Theron and Penn had always been mum about the relationship, and both camps have yet to confirm whether the two are really together. But it seems like there was no need for one when the couple's relationship were on public display at the 86th Academy Awards on March 2 despite not arriving together, according to an insider. Quoted by Hollywood Life, the insider said, "The couple is very much happening. They were constantly close to each other and he was very protective of her at all times. They were drinking Ciroc at one point and they very much acted like a couple."

Moreover, their first red carpet together at a post-Oscars bash also marked the seriousness of their relationship. Quoting a source of E! News, ContactMusic said that the two couldn't get enough of each other and that the two were already leaning into cohabitation.
