What's it like to be at the Oscars?
That's one question that the rest of us ask when we see all those celebrities doing their thing on the red carpet and making their way to the stage to receive the highly coveted golden statuette.
In events like these, actors, filmmakers, and other people involved in the film industry acquire this deific aura - they become cinematic gods and goddesses, untouchable, yet highly fascinating to watch.
However, one particular "civilian" has taken the liberty of giving us a peek into the world of celebrities and the goings on at Oscars 2014. Laura Simpson was fortunate enough to call Hollywood It Girl and Academy Award recipient Jennifer Lawrence best friend. She was also lucky to be J-Law's "date" at this year's Oscars, rubbing elbows with some of the A-listers at the event.
"How did I get invited to the 86th Academy Awards, you ask?" Simpson said in her MySpace post, explaining how she and the young actress met. "Well, my best friend took me as her date. I met her seven years ago at an event where we both didn't know a single person. We hit it off over a mutual respect for Chandler Bing, and we've been eating pizza together ever since."
She also recounted the details of THAT fall, the Daily Mail shared. "As we exit the car, my date eats shit and uses my freshly done Lauren Conrad up do to break her fall. The crowd goes wild," she recalled. "There are flashbulbs and people circling yet no one asks if I need any help because unless you are famous at the Oscars, you are completely invisible."
"The only time anyone talks to you is if you are in the way of his or her photo," she added. "Oh and photographers on the carpet yell 'YOU IN THE HUGE DRESS, GET OUT OF THE FUCKING SHOT.' It's incredible. It is no wonder actors are crazy."
Somehow, you find yourself thankful you were not in Simpson's shoes on that red carpet.
However, J-Law's BFF also noted the perks of being in the same room as Holywood's glitterati. She revealed that she was able to encounter Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, "The Sun and the Moon." She also said that the actor smelled "amazing." "I don't wear cologne, it's just my musk I guess," he replied when asked about his fragrance.
Simpson also shared that she and her date only finally got to "relax and enjoy" the post-Oscars festivities when they went to a friend's party, where there are no press. She noted that while Pitt was Best Smelling, Cate Blanchett was Most Beautiful and Nicholas Hoult, Jen's boyfriend, was honorable mention in the Best Dressed department.
