Hitmaking artist Pharrell Williams was never quiet about his professional admiration for New Zealand-based singer Lorde, and this admiration may soon translate to some sweet music.

In an interview with Hard Knock TV, the singer-songwriter-producer said the he thinks the likes of Lorde are changing the game in the music industry by "making meaningful music and letting the people speak for them instead of record labels executives." He also said she's one of his favorite artists "right now," adding "She, to me, is like a shining example of where we're heading."

Coming from a independent-minded musician like Pharrell, this kind of sentiment about the 17-year-old ingenue is not surprising to hear. As such, it's also quite natural for the N.E.R.D. alum to want to work with such a talented and self-starting artist.

According to the Daily Mail, the "Get Lucky" singer recently said he wants to work with Lorde, although it looks like the "Royals" singer doesn't need him.

"I would love to work with [Lorde]. She doesn't need me but I would love to work with her," Pharrell said in an interview on Australian TV show Sunrise. "When you hear Lorde's music you hear her lyrics, you hear her melody and you hear her music but you also feel what she's saying."

The 40-year-old artist performed his hit "Happy" in the Aussie show with the Australian Girls choir. He was in town to play at Futures Music Festival in the Land Down Under.

He also told his interviewers that he's not resting on his laurels and is still making songs. "I think I'm getting a little better," The New Zealand Herald quoted him as saying. "When you do something that emotes, even if people don't understand what you're saying language wise, they can feel it."

"There's something that resonates with them," he revealed.

The fact that his latest album "G I R L" has taken the top spot on the iTunes album chart, it appears Pharrell still has that musical mojo that makes people feel his song with their heart and pockets.
