The strong rains caused by the storm that passed through southern California during the weekend left serious floods in various regions of the state, along with blackouts and landslides.

During the rains, a video shot on a cellphone has gone viral around the world through YouTube and social networks since it captures the terrifying moment in which a gigantic wave breaks the windows of a restaurant in Santa Barbara, California.

According to a report published by NBC in its website, on Saturday, March 1, various clients of the Moby Dick restaurant in Santa Barbara were eating their breakfast when they were unexpectedly interrupted by a giant wave that crashed against the restaurant's windows with such force that the glass broke immediately, filling the restaurant with water.

Forrest Buchanan, one of the clients who was eating at Moby Dick when the Pacific Ocean's waters hit the restaurant with force, told the NBC that "The waves were getting bigger every time. I remember telling the people in the table in front of me that the pier would probably close soon due to the high tide."

What Buchanan did not expect was that moments later the restaurant would be flooded with water and glass due to the force of the powerful waves on Saturday.

"The restaurant was filled with the sound of glass breaking and people screaming, while a wave of water flooded the place," the client told the NBC.

According to the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management, during Saturday and Sunday there were no injuries reported, to the surprise of many area residents who had rarely seen the Pacific's fury.

Santa Barbara's coast is closed off until the weather gets better in the upcoming days.
