After winning the Oscar, actors and directors go on to great stardom and get a number of offers from producers and studios. The following is a preview of what the actor, screenplay and director recipients will do next.
Matthew McConaughey: After having one of the best years of his career with two Oscar nominated films ("Dallas Buyers Club," "The Wolf of Wall Street") and one critically-acclaimed movie, McConaughey is set to portray Cooper in Christopher Nolan's upcoming movie "Interstellar." That film will unite him with Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine and Casey Affleck. McConaughey has not confirmed his participation in "Magic Mike 2," but rumors state that the actor will reprise his role as Dallas in the upcoming sequel.
Cate Blanchett: Blanchett is currently starring in "The Monuments Men," which has become a box office success and has many films in production. She is set to play Janet in David Mamet's film "Blackbird" and will voice the role of Valka in "How to Train your Dragon 2." Blanchett will also reprise her role as Gladriel in "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" and will also be seen in Terrence Malick's film "Knights of Cup." She is also set to reunite with director Todd Haynes for "Carol." The film is being touted as one of the most anticipated films of the year and as a film that could potentially bring Blanchett back to the Dolby Theatre in 2015. The actress is also set to star in "Cinderella," which is due in 2015.
Jared Leto: Leto took six years off from film to concentrate on his band 30 Seconds to Mar and according to his IMDB page, he has not signed on to do another film. The actor is going on tour with band and he will be too busy.
Lupita Nyong'o: After garnering her first role in "12 Years a Slave" Nyong'o immediately obtained a role in the box office hit "Non-Stop," currently in theaters. The actress has not been offered any new roles at the moment but after the win, she is sure to get offers in the coming weeks.
Alfonso Cuaron: The Mexican director is known for taking his time between films. He took almost seven years to make "Gravity" and it is unlikely he will immediately make his next film. However, he recently directed the pilot to the upcoming show "Believe" and recently co-wrote "A Boy and his Shoe." The film has no actor or director assigned yet but it could easily be his next film. According to IMDB, the film tells the story of a French girl who moves to Scotland with her family and two troubled Scottish boys who end up crossing paths in surprising and touching ways.
Steve McQueen: While he did not win the Best Director award, it was reported in January that McQueen would make his TV debut directing a BBC drama about the black experience in Britain. The director was quoted saying that it would be an epic and that it would span many years. It was also rumored that the "12 Years a Slave" lead actor Chiwetel Ejiofor would star in the series.
John Ridley: After winning the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, the writer is concentrating his efforts on a TV movie called "American Crime." The film will tell the story of the lives of the participants in a trial with significant racial motives who are forever changed during the legal process. The film is set to star Caitlin Gerard and Elvis Nolasco.
Spike Jonze: The director and writer has not yet picked his next project, and based on the way he works it is unlikely his next film will be announced in the near future. However, the director recently completed a short film entitled "Choose You" starring Dree Hemingway and Vanessa Hudgens.
