Allison Williams' character, Marnie Michaels, is nursing a broken heart in the HBO television hit "Girls." But that doesn't mean she's heartbroken in real life.
Daily Mail said in a report that Williams recently got engaged to her boyfriend of three years, entrepreneur Ricky Van Veen. The statuesque brunette and daughter of NBC news anchor Brian Williams was said to have been dating Van Veen, a co-founder of viral video site College Humor. The pair reportedly met through their mutual friends.
Williams' representative has exclusively confirmed with People Magazine about the engagement news.
Williams recently opened up about her new-found fame as one-fourth of the Lena Durham-led troubled female group. In an interview with CNN's Larry King in January this year, she shared that Van Veen and her friends are now getting used to taking cell phone pictures of her and "Girls" fans.
Williams, whose boyfriend is close pals with John Mayer and occasionally goes on double dates with the musician and pop star Katy Perry, is not keen to let go of her acting career any time soon. Daily Mail quoted Williams, who said, "I want to play a villain. I want to play a romantic heroine. I want to play someone who's on heroin. There's nothing I don't want to do. I want to play a guy at some point. I'll gain 100lbs, I'll cut my hair off, I'll do whatever. I'm not precious about any of it."
However, Williams' statement contradicted her thoughts on family in a latest interview by Glamour magazine, said the U.K. online tabloid. She reportedly told the fashion magazine, "I'd love to be a mom - and not have to bring my kids into my trailer ... Or a balance [of both]," she said.
"But you've [got to] call it on the fly to a certain extent."
