The daughter of the late Jenni Rivera, Chiquis Marín, made strong statements in which she confirmed that at the time of her mother's sudden death there were big issues between them, which led her to compose "Paloma Blanca", a song dedicated to Jenni's memory.
In an interview with entertainment show "Despierta América" by Univisión, Chiquis talked about how difficult it's been for her to face her mother's death, a little over a year after the plane crash in which Jenni and her staff lost their lives.
"Many people know my mother dedicated 'Paloma Negra' to me in her last concert in Monterrey and I wanted to say what everybody knew: Chiquis and her mom weren't talking when she died. I wanted to say 'Yes, it's true', but expressing my love, how much I miss her, everything I feel every day. It helped me so much to sing that song, it was like closing a chapter," the young singer told Univisión.
Jenni Rivera's oldest daughter made a reference to the experience she lived while recording the video for "Paloma Blanca", where her aunt Rosie plays her mother, wearing one of the "Diva of Banda's" dresses. Chiquis said that from the beginning of filming for the video, she felt the support and presence of her mother, who she asked for help and strength before filming.
"When we arrived at the beach that day, it was cloudy and when I started singing the sun came out, I was wearing the red dress and that's when I felt it and said: 'My mother is with me'. I don't know, I felt something beautiful, it was a magical day. I asked her 'Mom, help me', give me the strength and since that day I'm happier."
The problems between Jenni and Chiquis were made public after it was rumored that Jenni's husband, former pitcher for Los Angeles Dodgers, Estaba Loaiza, and her oldest daughter were having an affair; however, both Chiquis and Loaiza repeatedly dismissed the rumors.

The Rivera brothers, Rosie and Juan, offered an exclusive interview with host Myrka Dellanos in her TV show "Estrellas TV", in which they cleared up the rumors regarding the alleged affair between the singer's husband and her daughter Chiquis, saying that now that Jenni is "in heaven", she knows the truth. Rosie Rivera admitted that her attitude towards Chiquis caused "enormous damage" to her niece, offering a sincere and honest public apology.
