The announcement of four additional actors for the young "Batman" pilot is giving away the television series' plotline. Warner Bros. recently announced four additional members who would be allies and enemies of the young Jim Gordon for the much-anticipated television series "Gotham," said MTV News.
"Another Earth" actor Robin Lord Taylor is set to play the creepy Oswald Cobblepot, alias Penguin, while "Doomsday" actor Sean Pertwee will be playing Bruce Wayne's trusted butler Alfred Pennyworth. Ben Mckenzie's Jim Gordon character will be partnering up with "Being Human" actress Erin Richards, who will be playing Gordon's fiancee Barbara Kean. Gordon's boss Captain Essen will be played by none other than "Burn Notice" actress Zabryna Guevara.
E! Online hinted that the newly-hired actors will be playing departures from characters the movie screen came to know about. Taylor, who is also in "The Walking Dead," will be giving depth to Penguin's character as he will be attempting to stave off the villain's lust for power while working as a polite member of Fish Mooney's Gotham gang. Pertwee, on the other hand, will be portraying a more tougher Alfred as his back story is that of an ex-marine's, said E! Online.
MTV News said that a love triangle will be played out between McKenzie, Guevara and Richards, as the television series will see Gordon and Captain Essen attempting to shut down feelings for each other typical of an office romance as the former returns to his loyal, emergency room doctor wife everyday.
E! Online noted that as Fox plans to debut the television series in the fall, Warner Bros. still has to cast actors to play the role of a young Selina Kyle, or Catwoman, and Bruce Wayne. The Hollywood Reporter said that the drama pilot with a committed series will be written by "The Mentalist" showrunner Bruno Heller, who will also be the pilot's executive producer. Danny Cannon of "CSI" and "Nikita" will co-executive produce and direct the pilot.
