The first full night of the Republican National Convention featured the keynote speech, delivered by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
During Christie's speech, he noted that tonight starts the road to "make America great again."
"Stop tearing each other down and work together," said Christie. "Tonight, we're gonna choose respect over love," which might contradict Ann Romney's speech who specifically said her speech is about "love."
Chrisite related to the troubles New Jersey faced when he ran for governor of the state. He said people believed the problems in his state were "impossible," such as making tax cuts and balancing the budgets.
"We did it."
"Our ideas are right for America, and their ideas have failed for America," said Christie, referring to the Democrats and President Barack Obama.
Christie said he wants to be clear to Americans by telling the truth about the fiscal problems the country faces and the need to reduce the size of the government.
"[Democrats] believe the American people don't want to hear the truth," said Christie.
Christie spoke on the differences Democratic and Republican parties have, from teachers unions, senior healthcare, and threats to "conservative principles."
"We have a nominee that will tell us the truth," said Christie about Romney, who was seen smiling and saying thank from a distance in the audience.
According to Christie, Romney will lead America to the path to growth.
"There is doubt and fear in every corner of the country," said Christie, who criticized Obama on not being a leader in the Oval Office.
"Let us choose a path that will be remembered for generations to come," said Christie, adding he doesn't want his children to read about the troubles currently facing the US.
The New Jersey governor closed the keynote speech asking everyone to stand up and if everyone is ready to to join the "era of truth-telling...tonight, we stand up for Mitt Romney as president of the United States."
