Warners Bros. has announced a release date for the upcoming "Tarzan" remake.

Deadline is reporting that the studio will release the film on July 1, 2016 and will star Alexander Skarsgard as the iconic character. The news come after Warner Bros. stalled the project last spring when David Yates was slated to direct the movie.

Margot Robbie has replaced Jessica Chastain to play the character of Jane Porter while "Django Unchained" stars Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson are also set to star.

The new film will tell the story of the eponymous hero, orphaned as a baby and raised in the jungle, who returns to urban London as a man.

Skarsgard is best known for his work in "Melancholia," "What Maisie Knew" and "The East." He has also been seen in the hyperlink movie "Disconnected," "Trust Me," "13" and "Straw Dogs." The actor will next be seen in "The Giver" and "Hidden."

Robbie recently had her breakthrough in "The Wolf of Wall Street," which is nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.

Waltz is known Academy Award winning performances in "Django Unchained" and "Inglorious Basterds." He has also been seen in "Carnage," "Water For Elephants," "The Three Musketeers," "The Green Hornet" and "Epic." He will next be seen in "Big Eyes," "Muppets Most Wanted," and "Horrible Bosses 2."

Warner Bros. recently had one of the best openings of the year with "The Lego Movie." The company also released "Gravity," "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," and "Her." It will soon release "A Winter's Tale" with Colin Farrell and Russell Crowe.
