Alex Pettyfer has revealed that he does not want to be part of the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII."
The actor, who was rumored to have auditioned for a role in the film, revealed in an interview with Coming Soon that he was too big a fan to be part of the movie. He stated, "If I was a part of 'Star Wars,' I don't know if I would speak on set. I'm more of a fanboy."
The actor said that he felt he could mess up the film. He said, "Those things, it's very weird for me, like I sometimes would prefer not to be a part of it, not in any disregard or disrespect, just because I'm such a lover of film -- to watch something like that is much more enjoyable for me."
Pettyfer is best known for his work on "Magic Mike," "I am Number Four," Beastly" and "Lee Daniel's The Butler." He has also been seen in "In Time," "Tormented," and "Wild Child." He will next star in "Endless Love," which is set to hit theaters on Valentines Day.
A number of actors have been rumored for the new film including Saoirse Ronan, Zack Efron, Rachel Hurd-Wood, and Michael Fassbender. Additionally, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford are rumored to reprise their roles from the original series.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" will be directed by J.J Abrams and produced Kathleen Kennedy. Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams wrote the script based on drafts by Michael Arndt.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" is set for release on Dec. 18, 2015 with production slated to begin later this year.
