Channing Tatum has begun writing the sequel to "Magic Mike."
The actor confirmed the news on Twitter, posting a picture of himself working, with the script sitting on a desk that had a statue of Matthew McConaughey's character. Below the picture, Tatum wrote, "What better way to start writing #MagicMike2 than with my old friend Dallas?"
The news of another "Magic Mike" film is no surprise as the actor revealed in June that he would be making his directorial debut helming the movie. According to Tatum, he will work with his producing partner Reid Carolin on the new film.
"Magic Mike" was financed by Tatum and directed by Steven Soderbergh. The film cost an estimated $7 million and became one of 2012's most successful films.The movie earned $113 million at the box office and later went on to garner numerous awards including nominations for Matthew McConaughey at the Broadcast Critics Choice Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards.
Tatum has been one of the busiest actors of late and has three films slatd to be released this year. He will star in the highly anticipated Bennett Miller drama "Foxcatcher," as well as the sequel to "21 Jump Street." He will later appear in th Wachowskis' sci-fi film "Jupiter Ascending" with Mila Kunis. The actor is also attached to to star in an untitled Evil Knievel biopic at Sony and the Jonathon Levine film "Bad Romance."
"Magic Mike 2" is expected to be release by Warner Bros. There is no release date scheduled at the moment.
