For human beings, a mother's love is something so deep and powerful that the loss of a son is probably one of the most devastating tragedies a mother could go through.
And even though sometimes it can be hard to imagine how an animal could express a similar pain, a minute-long video has gone viral in recent weeks since it perfectly shows this indescribable moment.
A couple of Emperor Penguins was filmed by a group of British documentary filmmakers as they try to make their baby react after it was not able to resist the freezing temperatures of the Arctic. The video is particularly heartbreaking because it shows the mother's efforts to wake up her frozen baby.
The painful scene first shows the mother's attempts to revive her frozen chick and seconds later we can hear the squawks we can interpret as painful and grieving.
A little over a week after being uploaded to YouTube, the video has already gotten over half a million views and it has truly managed to move thousands of users around the world.
According to information published by Mirror News, the video is a part of a documentary broadcast by the BBC, and was filmed by a crew from John Downer Productions last year.
The BBC's last show on the animal kingdom was titled "Penguins Spy in the Huddle (Waddle all the Way)" and it was narrated by David Tennant and musicalized by Will Gregory.
The documentary was directed by John Downer and it was first broadcast on TV in 2013.
